Full-TimeSoutheast Missouri State University’s Marketing and Communications department seeks a talented and motivated Web SEO Strategist. The Web SEO Strategist will play a crucial role in enhancing our online presence, driving organic traffic, and improving our search engine rankings. The strategist will work closely with our team to ensure digital content is written, optimized, and aligned with our strategic goals.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective SEO strategies to increase organic traffic and improve search engine rankings
- Conduct comprehensive keyword research and analysis to identify opportunities for content optimization
- Write engaging digital content that is SEO-friendly and optimized for target keywords
- Monitor and analyze website performance using SEO tools and analytics platforms, providing regular reports and insights
- Perform on-page and off-page optimization, including meta tags, link building, and content recommendations
- Stay current with the latest SEO trends, algorithm updates, and best practices to ensure SEMO remains competitive in search rankings
- Work with the web team to ensure website structure and technical SEO elements are optimized
- Conduct competitor analysis to identify gaps and opportunities in our SEO strategy
- Provide SEO training and guidance to internal teams to promote best practices across the organization
- Enthusiastically collaborate with team members to achieve University goals, create effective campaigns, and elevate the SEMO brand
Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, computer science, writing or a related field
- Strong understanding of search engine algorithms, ranking factors, and SEO best practices with a passion for staying current with industry trends and technologies
- Proficiency in SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and SEO platforms
- Superb attention to detail as well as strong written, communications, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights
- Superior time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and the discipline to deliver projects
- Knowledge of content management systems (CMS) and basic HTML/CSS
