About the role: The Senior Technical SEO Manager owns the reliability and scalability of technical and programmatic SEO systems as the business grows. This role exists to ensure sites launch cleanly, performance holds under increasing complexity, and leadership is no longer pulled into reactive technical issues. Acting as the execution interface between SEO, Developer Experience, web development, and content operations, this is a hands-on, production-focused role responsible for running technical SEO in live environments, replacing manual effort with durable systems, and increasing throughput without sacrificing quality. As the organization scales, this role offers a meaningful opportunity to expand scope and ownership for a high-performing operator.
What You'll Do
- Technical SEO Execution
- Own technical SEO execution across large, complex client sites
- Lead and QA technical SEO initiatives, including:
- Crawlability, indexation, and rendering
- Site architecture and internal linking
- Core Web Vitals and performance improvements
- Execute and validate technical SEO fixes defined by audits
- Serve as the quality backstop for high-risk or irreversible technical changes
- Website Builds, Migrations & Redirects
- Coordinate and execute SEO requirements for:
- Website builds
- Redesigns and platform changes
- Site migrations and domain changes - Own redirect mapping, validation, and post-launch QA
- Partner with the Lead Web Developer and DX team to ensure clean technical SEO implementation
- Validate tracking, indexation, and performance before and after launches
- Programmatic Content Operations
- Manage the Programmatic Content Operations Specialist.
- Own operational execution of:
- Programmatic and scaled content deployments - Bulk page creation, updates, refreshes, and content pruning
- Coordinate with DX and web developers on templates, components, and deployment logic
- Ensure programmatic pages meet technical SEO, performance, and UX standards before scale
- Reporting & Measurement Operations
- Own SEO reporting accuracy and operational visibility
- Build and maintain client-facing SEO dashboards (Looker or similar tools)
- Ensure reliable tracking across: Rankings, traffic, indexation, and technical health, and Programmatic content performance
- Use GA4 and Google Tag Manager to diagnose issues and validate implementations
- Keyword Tracking & Data Operations
- Rapidly set up and maintain keyword rank tracking at scale across many clients
- Work efficiently and accurately in spreadsheets to: Normalize, QA, and analyze large datasets, and manage keyword sets and tracking configurations
- Ensure keyword tracking reflects site structure, priority pages, and client goals
- Delivery Operations & Project Management
- Run sprint-based execution for technical SEO and programmatic initiatives
- Translate priorities into:
- Clear scopes
- Task sequences
- Dependencies and timelines
- Maintain visibility into work-in-progress, blockers, and risk
- Coordinate execution across SEO, DX, web development, and content operations
- Enforce delivery hygiene: documentation, QA checklists, ownership, and sign-off
What You Need
- Technical SEO & Web Skills
- 3 to 7+ years of hands-on SEO with deep technical execution experience
- Advanced experience with Screaming Frog
- Strong front-end troubleshooting skills:
- Browser DevTools / Dev Console
- Web Scraping with RegEx/Xpath
- HTML & CSS
- Proven experience with:
- Core Web Vitals
- Site migrations and redirects
- Content pruning and large-scale site cleanups
- Data, Analytics & Reporting
- Strong experience with GA4 and Google Tag Manager
- High-speed, high-accuracy spreadsheet proficiency (Google Sheets / Excel)
- Working knowledge of SQL and regex
- Experience building client-facing reporting dashboards (Looker or similar BI tools)
- Experience setting up and managing keyword rank tracking tools at scale
- Operations & Coordination
- Strong project management or RevOps / Ops experience in a high-speed environment
- Experience coordinating across SEO, web development, DX, and content teams
- Ability to translate requirements into executable plans
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable operating under tight deadlines and production pressure
- Preferred Background
- Degree or formal training in STEM, Economics, Business, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
- Candidates without a formal degree are equally considered if they demonstrate strong technical depth, analytical rigor, and execution track record
- Nice to Have
- Experience with programmatic SEO or scaled content systems
- Working knowledge of CRO and UX principles
- Experience with R or Python for analysis, automation, or reporting
- Agency or high-growth startup experience
Salary & Benefits
- Location: Remote in the USA
- Salary: $90k - $110k / Year
- This is a full-time, long-term position.
- The position is immediately available.
