The role

We are seeking an experienced SEO expert to drive enterprise-scale SEO strategy in a rapidly evolving search landscape. This role requires mastery of the fundamentals of SEO combined with the foresight to embrace AI-driven changes to search behavior. The ideal candidate thrives in a large corporate matrix organization, where success depends on influencing multiple stakeholders, aligning with cross-functional priorities, and ensuring SEO is embedded into every stage of product and content development.

This is a hands-on expert role: you are the person the organization turns to for the hardest SEO problems. You set direction and standards, but you also dive into the details.

Key Responsibilities

Core SEO Basics:

  • Deep expertise in technical and international SEO: crawling, indexing, rendering, site architecture, internal linking, structured data, site speed, Core Web Vitals, hreflang, localization and geo-targeting.
  • Lead on-page fundamentals at scale: keyword research, metadata optimization, heading structure, content hierarchy with deep understanding of E-E-A-T.
  • Oversee off-page authority: link acquisition strategies, backlink profile analysis, risk management and disavow processes.

Analytics & Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Ground all recommendations in solid data and insights — no assumptions, no guesswork.
  • Define and track KPIs that clearly connect SEO performance to business value.
  • Leverage enterprise SEO tools (GSC, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs etc.) and analytics platforms (GA4, BigQuery, Looker/PowerBI) for large-scale analysis.
  • Translate complex metrics into simple, actionable insights for both technical and business stakeholders.

AI Evolution & Adaptability:

  • Understanding of Search Generative Experiences (SGE), AI-driven SERPs, and conversational search interfaces.
  • Ability to adapt strategies for multimodal search and content distribution (text, voice, image, video).
  • Skilled in prompt engineering and leveraging LLMs/AI tools for content ideation, clustering, and optimization.
  • Awareness of how AI-driven personalization, zero-click answers, and entity-based search impact visibility.

Enterprise & Organizational Skills

  • Skilled at navigating a large matrix organization: influencing without authority, aligning with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to build business cases for SEO initiatives (ROI modeling, cost vs. opportunity analysis).
  • Strong project management skills for handling migrations, redesigns, and global rollouts.
  • Ability to connect SEO strategy with broader brand, content, and demand generation efforts.
  • Skilled at scaling content operations without sacrificing quality.

Leadership & Guidance

  • Excellent communication skills; can translate SEO complexity into business impact.
  • Proven ability to train, mentor, and upskill your direct colleagues as well as non-SEO stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset: balancing long-term SEO value with short-term business pressures.
  • Adaptable, resilient and calm during unforeseen crises like algorithm updates or major traffic drops.

The ideal profile

The ideal profile brings a proven track record of managing SEO for complex, high-traffic platforms, where technical depth, strategic vision, and strong communication skills are equally important. You know the SEO basics better than anyone – yet you are forward-looking, comfortable adapting to AI-driven search, conversational interfaces, and the integration of semantic and multimodal search. You are equally at ease discussing technical fixes with developers, making ROI cases to leadership, and guiding content teams to optimize for both users and search engines.

We expect that you:

  • Have +5 years of hands-on SEO experience, with at least 1–3 years in enterprise or large-scale SEO environments.
  • Have led SEO strategies for large, multilingual websites and successfully diagnosed/resolved large-scale SEO issues – either inhouse or at agency.
  • Experience working in corporate matrix organizations (collaborating with product, engineering, content, legal/compliance).
  • Comfortable working with developers, CMS platforms, and modern web technologies.
  • Can define KPIs and link SEO performance directly to business outcomes.
  • Are fluent in English, with exceptional communication skills.
